On November 22, 2022, at around 12:45 PM, a VBIED initiated outside a police residential complex on Suriya Pradit Street, in Narathiwat Province, in southern Thailand. The complex is located opposite the Narasikhalai High School.
Thai media reported that in addition to the extensive damage at the scene, Captain Suthirak Panthaniya, a deputy traffic police inspector, was killed in the blast. The captain’s quarters were the closest to the VBIED. At least 31 people were injured in the attack, including 13 police officers, 15 civilians, and three children. Massive damage was caused to the officers’ cars and to motorcycles parked near the two 4-storey police residential complex buildings. When the roof of the covered parking/storage area outside of the residential complex collapsed, the windows in the police officers’ quarters, especially on the first and second floors, were shattered.
